Attacking a 2-1-2 Defense
Categories: Basketball

The stars indicate good spots to score in this league.  The key concept for attacking any zone defense is about finding the gaps.  In this league, the requirement that the defense remain inside of the lane also factors in.  The gaps noted by the red stars are within the shooting range of most of our players.  Players without the ball that move to those open spots will be in a position where they can score.  Anyone with the ball should move around the perimeter and look to attack those spots.  Since the defense must remain inside of the lane – ball movement around the perimeter is uncontested, and allows us to find a spot to attack or a player open in a position to score.
